This was the 92nd year this CBC has been conducted. The first Buckeye Lake CBC was conducted in 1921, and not performed in 1923 and 1926.

Weather During the Observation Period

Temperature: Low: 30 °F at 7:30 a.m. High: 32 °F at 2:00 p.m.
Wind: Calm.
Sky: Overcast all day.
Precipitation: None.
Bodies of Water: Streams, ponds and Buckeye Lake were open water.

Level of Effort

Observers: 12 observers in 4 field teams mostly driving, plus 9 observers covering Dawes Arboretum landholdings mostly walking, 3 of whom also monitored Dawes bird feeders.
Total of 21 participants in 5-8 daytime parties.
Party Distance: Daytime observations: 181.5 miles by car, 11.25 miles on foot. Total = 192.75 miles.
Owling: 0 miles by car, 2.25 miles on foot. Total = 2.25 miles.
Party Time: Daytime observations: 21 hours by car, 15.5 hours on foot. Total = 36.5 hours.
Owling: 0 hours by car, 4 hours on foot. Total = 4 hours.
Feeder coverage: 3 hours.
Hours Afield: Daytime observations occurred between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
Exclusive morning owling occurred between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.
Bird Feeders: 2 feeding stations (at Dawes Arboretum) were monitored by a total of 3 observers.
Owling: 4 observers constituting 4 parties searched expressly for owls on Dawes Arboretum land holdings (pre-dawn). Total times and distances are noted above.
